Honesty

Pastor Paul Strozier

It’s good for your health, it turns out, to be in rich communal relationships with others.

Key #1: Generosity

1 John 2:6 - “Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.”

Key #2: Honesty

"Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy - the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light." - Brene Brown

1 John 1:7 - If we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Live in the Light

John 8:12 - “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Matthew 5:14 - “You are the light of the world.”

“Honesty thrives in fertile, moist, and well-drained soil.”

We have fellowship

1 John 1:7 - If we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Leviticus 14:20 - Through this process, the priest will purify the person who was healed, and the person will be ceremonially clean.

Psalm 139:23-24 - God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me through and through; find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares. See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on, and lead me back to your glorious, everlasting way— the path that brings me back to you. - The Passion Translation
